5 Days Uganda Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking Safari


This 5 Days Uganda Gorilla &Chimpanzee Trekking Safari is an ultimate primate safari to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Kibale National Park. This experience offers gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking in Uganda’s primate capital.


Day 1
Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Early morning after your breakfast, our guide will pick you up from your booked accommodation in Kampala/Entebbe and depart for Bwindi National Park at 7.00 am, driving southwards for at least 8 hours before arriving at your accommodation in Bwindi National Park. The scenic drive takes you through plantations, rolling hills, and country people conducting business with a stop at the equator for photography. Lunch is en-route in Mbarara town at Agip Motel. Upon arrival to the lodge, we spend the evening relaxing whilst enjoying the magnificent vistas of the beautiful landscape. Have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2
Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today’s schedule will take us through the impenetrable Jungle of Bwindi National Park, the home of the endangered mountain gorillas. The park is divided into 4 gorilla tracking sectors including Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors. Within the park, there are 21 groups of gorillas habituated for tourism. Five of these groups are found in the vicinity of Buhoma in northwest Bwindi; four at Ruhija in the east; and ten at the park’s southern trailheads at Rushaga and two are found at Nkuringo. We enjoy an early breakfast at lodge then pick our packed lunch, and drinking water and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing at 7.30 am. While here, we register and join others for a gorilla trekking briefing about the precautions and guidelines of the gorilla trekking activity. You will then be assigned a gorilla group, meet the ranger guide and start the trek into the forest. Once you have reached them, you are allowed to stay for one hour to observe these gentle giants, after which you return to meet the driver guide and transfer back to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 3
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Kibale Forest National Park

This morning, we have breakfast in the beautiful foothills of the gorilla land then after embark on the transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. The journey will take you through the small homestead and towns like Kasese town which was commonly known for its copper mining during the colonial era. We then proceed to Fort Portal town arriving in the evening at our booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay

Day 4
Morning Crater Tour - Afternoon Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park

This morning is set for a scenic cater tour. The cater tour is a walking tour that offers panoramic views and sceneries for perfect photography. We trail goes past the different craters of the region with our destination being the top of the world view point on the highest hill behind Lake Nyamirima where you can see up to 5 crater lakes. We later return to accommodation for relaxation and lunch

After lunch is our chimpanzee trek, we transfer to Kanyanchu to meet our ranger guides, register and get briefed about the activity After briefing, we will be divided into groups then set off to track a community of Chimpanzees. This trek usually lasts between 3-5 hours to include the 1 hour you will spend with the chimps. You will locate the Chimps without so much straining to spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat. After the experience, we will be awarded certificates then return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay

Day 5
Kibale National Park to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, you will proceed back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for a departure flight. This will definitely be an evening flight marking the end of the 5 days trip.
